Proper Care After PPF Installation

After having Paint Protection Film (PPF) installed on your vehicle, it’s essential to follow certain care guidelines to maintain its appearance and longevity. One of the most important steps is to avoid washing your car for at least 48 hours post-installation. This waiting period allows the adhesive to properly cure, ensuring the film stays firmly attached and free from lifting or bubbling.

When you do wash your car, use a gentle touch. Opt for a mild, pH-neutral car shampoo and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes that could damage the film. Hand washing is recommended over automatic car washes, as the high-pressure jets and stiff brushes in automatic systems may peel or scratch the film’s surface.

Things to Avoid After PPF Installation

It’s crucial not to use waxes or polishes containing solvents immediately after PPF installation. These substances can degrade the film’s surface or interfere with its adhesion. Always consult with your installer about suitable products to use, and wait at least 30 days before applying any waxing agents.

Avoid parking your vehicle in direct sunlight for extended periods during the first few days after installation. Excessive heat can affect the curing process of the adhesive and potentially cause premature peeling. If possible, park in a shaded area or use a car cover to protect the film while it settles.

Refrain from scraping ice or snow off the film in winter without proper tools. Use a soft plastic scraper or let the defroster melt the ice first to prevent scratching. Harsh scraping can damage the film, reducing its protective qualities and aesthetic appeal.
